and then june was over...

so, it's been a month since i said i was going to get back to our neglected blog...
but then we up and went to california on a whim the very next day.
then we were gone on a texas road trip for ten days.
and, in between, we have just been enjoying my favorite month and doing all the things that make june the very best.  hours in the pool, lots of popsicles in the yard, enjoying summer fruit and attempting to tackle our rather ambitious summer reading.  this year we are also continuing piano into the summer and letting the world cup, more or less, rule our lives.  drawing, crafting, baking and swimming some more.
it has been glorious.

something i never expected to come out of my eight year old daughter's mouth...
upon suggesting a book for her to read, she looked at me and said, "sorry, mom.  i'm just reeeeeally into norse mythology right now."  well, then.  party on sister.  thor's hammer has made it's way to the very top of her birthday list, so there's that, also.
