though she be but little, she is fierce.

i found this fabulous print on etsy (i actually want the entire collection) and think miss dot needs it in her room.
and by her room, i mean my room (maybe someday she will have her own room to hang it in).
either way, i just love it.
and i love her.
she seems to be taking over the blog lately...  will have to do something about that.

not sure what is going on here...
i feel this picture needs the perfect caption, but i just couldn't find it.
thoughts?

and then my heart explodes

there really is nothing sweeter than sibling love.
when finn gets dropped off from half day kindergarten, the love between these two just kills me.
dot squeals and smiles and kicks her arms and legs.
and finn is absolutely, completely smitten with his little sister.
if ever there is a hard day, these times make all the late nights and no naps totally worth it.

on the move

so, the day i posted this, i am pretty sure dot woke up in the middle of the night, read my blog and declared, "challenge accepted!" because she started crawling the very next day.
and she hasn't slowed down since...

feeling the love

i'm a dork, but i love valentine's day.
i don't like the forced romance side of it and i don't want anything from my husband.
i just love making it special for my kids because my mom always did that for us.
so, we made valentine's in the days leading up to the 14th and we had a little celebration on valentine's day morning with donuts and mailboxes full of dumb trinkets.  i just love how excited my kids get about it all.
pete thinks i'm a little silly, but that's ok.  i am a little silly.

I even gave myself some happy tape and a little nap as my own valentine's day presents...

happy valentine's day.
hope you enjoyed it in whatever way you celebrated!

getting wet

ok, last post about the rain and how much i love it.
dot was fascinated and i think would've sat here all day if i had let her.
but, then she started trying to eat soggy leaves (soggy, crunchy, leaves are apparently delicious in every form when you are 8 months old), so i brought her in to watch through the window.

p.s.  sorry for all the rain love and obsession with my little baby.
perhaps i should write thoughtful commentaries on the state of the union or the pope stepping down.
or, crafty posts on homemade valentines and baking.
or, something useful about how to prep dinner and get in a workout while your baby naps.
but, i don't do those things, so i won't be posting anything about them.
i could tell you all about the exciting soccer match between manchester united and real madrid though...
but you probably don't care about that either...
oh, well.  it's my blog and rain and babies and my crazy kids are what it's full of.

when all you know is sunshine...

we had to sneak outside for just a bit to enjoy the big, gray clouds rolling in.

and to munch on a few crunchy leaves...

another rainy day...

It's another glorious rainy day in Phoenix today.  We had quite the storm last week and the kids ended up with a surprise four-day weekend (don't ask) in the midst of it all, so we were able to just lay around and enjoy the novelty that is rain in Phoenix.  I'm not sure if it's because it is so rare, or if it has something to do with the smell of rain in the desert, or perhaps I would just love rain no matter where I lived (Seattle, do I hear you calling my name?), but a rainy day is always my favorite.  The kids read books and played games.  I drank too much coffee and spent most of the morning on the floor coloring and reading with them.  We took a trip to the library.  I dreamed of homeschooling and how lovely it could be if I was just a bit more organized.  And, of course, naps are always better when it is gray outside... even for otherwise, sleepless babies.
Today it's quiet with the rain drizzling all morning, the kids at school and the baby (miraculously) sleeping again.  I think I could get used to a rainy life.
