baileys' building and loan

we watched its a wonderful life this weekend for the first time with the kids.  lucy screamed and then cried when the pharmacist hit george bailey on the ear and then proceeded to fall asleep.  finn loved every time sam said "heehaw" and continued to imitate it, but fell asleep just when clarence showed up.  and jack almost fell off the couch laughing when uncle billy was drunk, couldn't find his hat and then crashed into the garbage cans yelling, "i'm alright!"  apparently its not really a kids' movie...
oh, well.  all my kids (especially jack, since he was the only one who made it to the end) seemed to love it.  and they have since taken to playing a game they have named "baileys' building and loan" on our back porch.  basically they just set up their own little version of an office, use monopoly money and give anyone who asks a loan.  there were lots of typed letters in sealed envelopes delivered from person to person.  my favorite was when jack asked lucy to make some junk mail, so when he was sorting through the mail he could "just tear some of it in half and throw it away without looking at it, like dad always does."  they were quite the generous loan givers, i might add.  mr. potter would not have been pleased...
