the light rail and lights

in case you haven't noticed, i am kind of a sucker for traditions.  we started this one last year - riding the light rail down central and admiring all the holiday lights of the city.  we intended to do it before christmas, but the night we planned it, phoenix decided to dump rain, so we had to postpone and another free night didn't show itself until now.  most of the lights were still up and there is something extra thrilling about riding the light rail at night anyway.  we met christine and ed with their kids and brian and alex and all had dinner at 5 guys and then admired the ice skaters at city scape.  it was lovely.  one of my favorite kind of nights.

the phoenix zoo

allie and i had the brilliant idea to take our kids to the zoo, since they are on christmas break and the weather is so very lovely.  however, it seems everyone in phoenix had this same great idea yesterday.  it was rather packed, which i am never a fan of, but at least that never phases the kids.  they had fun running around with their friends and i really will take any chance to be outdoors this time of year.

i feel like this is one of those posts that really doesn't need to say anything, other than it's christmas.

(pssst, i made this doll.  i am rather proud.  i will have to show you the mattresses i made later...)

a christmas story

i don't usually like to share videos, but this is too much cuteness...

christmas eve

if we did a christmas card, i am kind of convinced this would have to be it.  my kids cannot get in front of a camera without eyes crossing and tongues coming out.  oh, well.  i really do love it.
once again, it was our usual christmas eve tradition of dinner at grandma and grandpa sherrick's house, then 7:00 mass and finally home to leave out cookies for santa and head to bed.

you try to get a nice picture of these kids when they are ridiculously excited about christmas eve...

and, as a side note, if you are ever at a loss for something to do, wrestling is always a good option.
