a very belated happy valentine's day...

at least its still february, right?
jack was set on making candy bar wrappers for his valentines, so we went to the store and bought 12 hershey bars (hurray for small classes!) and dug into our craft supplies and here is what he came up with (with a little help from me, my sister erin and brother danny)...

brainstorming for these basically consisted of jack telling us an animal he could draw and then us coming up with some cheesy phrase to go with that drawing.  he asked if he could give himself one and i jokingly asked if he would give himself the one that said "you're really cool."  "yeah." (giggles from all of us).  "no, seriously.  that's what all the kids in my class think.  except ted.  ted thinks he's the coolest.  i'll probably give this one to ted."  clearly he doesn't get that self-confidence from me.  i think pete just told me last week how cool he is...

these are the valentines i made for my kids with some little goodies and a sparkler for each...

and they had a lovely, romantic dinner of heart-shaped grilled cheese and tomato soup with the speier girls (while the parents had a lovely, grown-up meal outdoors.  allie made delicious steak.  she should post it.  i made this.)...

i also made this dessert.  it got mixed reviews, but i thought it was delicious.  and, oh, so pretty...

hope everyone else had a lovely love day.
