diamond street, we miss you already

*there are going to be a lot of pictures here, but it is my blog, so i get to do what i want.

lucy was so excited to be in california, she couldn't help but dance in the middle of the sidewalk.
any suggestions on how to convince a kid to wear shoes and leave them on?

lucy vainly stopping to admire herself in the car window...

late night frozen bananas and hippo cookies from dad's...

i kept having to hurry jack along on the sidewalk, as he found this an appropriate spot to stop and pretend like he was speed skating or snowboarding.  the snowboarding wasn't so bad, it just consisted of pretending to jump from time to time, but the speed skating was beginning to get a little old.  he would stop on the sidewalk to stand "ready for the race to start" then make the gunshot noise and go about ten feet before putting his hand on the ground and running his feet in a circle to imitate how the skaters round the corners.  like i said, we have really been enjoying the olympics.  that will definitely be a post to come...

quite possibly the highlight of finn's entire trip (other than the chocolate milkshake... see next picture) was that we saw an actual seal in the ocean.  luckily, he finally swam away, otherwise i may never have gotten finn off that pier.

a trip to the end of the pier would not be complete without a delicious ruby's milkshake...  even if it was so cold you were shaking while inhaling it...  literally shaking.

there is a "talking parrot" (as my kids call it.  i believe it is actually a macaw or something...) on the island and the owners leave the front door to their house open with the bird sitting just inside.  my kids are obsessed with it.  one morning as we were walking by the kids stopped to try and get the bird to say something to them, but all the bird would do was make a "raspberry" noise (a fart noise, if you will).  my kids were practically laying on the sidewalk they were laughing so hard.  i had to drag them home, they just couldn't seem to get enough.  finn, in particular, enjoyed it.  he actually hasn't been able to stop making that noise or talking about that bird.  here he is not paying any attention to me trying to take a picture...  clearly, he gets a good reaction, so why not do it over and over and over again...

until next time...

Your pictures are beautiful, esp. the ones of the kids at the bay!
