apple pickin' in willcox

we drove down to willcox, az yesterday to go apple picking at apple annie's orchard.  the kids had a lot of fun and the pumpkin patch on the farm was the biggest pumpkin patch i have ever seen.  in addition to picking apples you can also go out into their vegetable fields and pick from their assortment of tomatoes, peppers, squash, green beans, melon...  whatever is in season at that time.  our kids ran around, rolled in the dirt (namely, finn) and got absolutely filthy.  it was great.
i just have to say, i love road trips.  growing up we would always take little day trips around arizona and i love being able to do that with my own kids now.  for me even the car ride is fun.  i love listening to all our little singing voices in the back seat.  i love car bingo, slug bug and 20 questions (especially with finn...).  i do have to say, however, that apple annie's is maybe not quite worth the drive.  i don't want people to read this and all head off to willcox.  it is a fairly long drive for what appears to still be the same old arizona desert, just with a nice little farm hiding in the middle of it all.  i am thinking that something in the northern direction might be a little nicer...  any suggestions for fabulous road trips?

and we came home with a lot of corn kernels in our shoes...

oh, and i picked up this super rad driver on the set of the 1980's film the goonies, so i was pretty excited about that... as an added bonus, he drives a mini-van...
