Vacation Journal - Balboa: July 5th, Lucy's birthday!

Happy Birthday, sweet lulu! on july 5th lucy turned 4 and had a fabulous birthday at the beach with all her cousins there to celebrate. the first thing she tells everyone about her birthday was that she had fireworks. i wonder when she will realize that the whole country isn't celebrating with fireworks just for her birthday?

we set up a faux photobooth for all the kids by hanging a striped fabric as a backdrop and created our own digital photo strip to stick the pictures in to create a silly little keepsake. sticking with my current mustache obsession, they had to be included in the goodie bags, thus making for what i think are some hysterical pictures...

and these were a few of the final photo strips...

for some reason lucy was hysterical while opening her presents. it was one of those times after the fact that i wished i had been writing down everything she said because, of course, when it was over i couldn't remember any of it. christine wrote something that was apparently hysterical in her card to lucy because lucy almost fell over she was laughing so hard...

our present to lucy was a repeat of the present we gave audrey for her birthday. lucy has been talking about it since may, so i think she was rather pleased with it...

a cute little suitcase full of all sorts of goodies for a girl that loves to draw, color and create...

most of which was from the fabulous store frances in phoenix...

then came "the laurie dress" as it is now called. lucy wore this dress (from laurie, hence the name...) for about a week straight when we came home from california. i love her face peeking around from behind the dress...

i made lucy a polka-dot birthday cake which finn tried to drool on... or at least tried to help "blow" out the candles...

all in all i would say it was a perfect 4th birthday. i mean, she even got fireworks...

post-edit: november 27th - lucy and i were just cleaning out her room and i came across the card from christine.  it goes as such: "happy birthday silly girl!  hope you have a wonderful jolly day!  love and prayers, aunt christine, uncle ed and ruby g."  not really sure which part tickled lucy's fancy so, but something sure made her lose it in hysterics.  so glad i found that silly little card...

Your photo booth is awesome! I love it, especially the mustaches. How did you create the photo strips? I was thinking of doing something similar for my mom's 70th birthday.

Thanks!
