future babysitters...

i think ruby might be the coziest kid i have ever met (miss katie, you are going to love it!). the other night we watched her for a bit while christine and ed ran up to grab a bite to eat. she never fussed for even a second (although she did give pete a few concerned glances), but she suddenly seemed like she want to snuggle. (side note: while playing ruby will often lay her head down, have a little thumbsuck and then go right back to what she was doing... it is one of the cutest things i have ever seen). jack really wanted to hold her, so i let him snuggle ruby up with her blanket in our rocking chair. after a while, lucy wanted a turn. hesitant to disrupt ruby's happiness, i let lucy hop in jack's place, and ruby didn't even flinch. she just kept right on sucking her thumb. when ruby had had enough she climbed backwards off the chair and resumed playtime. you gotta love a baby that knows what she wants and doesn't fuss about it...

lucy couldn't decide if she wanted to be the babysitter or the baby...

ruby also has just learned to stick her tongue out when asked and we may have abused this trick at our house... i think she was asked about 63 times "where's your tongue?" sorry, ruby. it was stinkin' cute, though...
christine, you should post a tongue picture of ruby on your blog...
